* Duty Staff: Please be at your duty station at 7:30 every morning.

Character Theme of the Month: What is Fairness?

Science Words of the Week 26:
* Energy –The ability to cause changes in matter.
SENTENCE:  The energy from the fire caused the log to turn to ashes.

* Erosion- The process of moving sediment from one place to another.

SENTENCE:  The Grand Canyon was created through the process of erosion.

Idiom of the Week 26: “Far-fetched”

Meaning:  difficult to accept; difficult to believe.

SENTENCE:  Juan’s story was so far-fetched that the Teacher did not believe him.

Science Question from Last Week:
Question:  Scientists classify consumers into three groups.  Name these three groups.

Response: Scientists classify consumers into three groups –herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores.

Science Question of the Week:

The outer part of the sun’s atmosphere is called the __________________.

(Responses must be written on a piece of paper and placed in Mr. Garza's mailbox right outside his office. Include date of response, time of response, student's name, grade level and teacher's name. First one who submits the correct response wins. Winners will be announced via the P.A. system)

* Student Announcements:  - J. Herrera’s Kindergarten Classroom- Please send 3-4 representatives from your class for announcements.

REMINDERS/ANNOUNCEMENTS:

* Make time to meet with your Grade Level to plan for student success.  Chairpersons, make sure to keep minutes of all meetings.

*  Lesson Plans are due every Friday by 12:00P.M. to M. Alvarez.

*  Please make sure to pick up your students from P.E. Block and Lunch at the appropriate times.

*  Please make sure that you cover your Duty Stations as assigned and be punctual.

3rd-5th gr. need to use anchor charts from Dr. Ramirez training.  Also, lower grades need to be using reading shields, graphic organizers from Dr. Ramirez or from Developing Readers with specific reading skills for the week.

*  Scientist of the Month is Nicholas Copernicus –Teachers please make sure that you and your students research all that there is to know about our Scientist of the Month

*  Please encourage your students to respond to the Science Question Of The Week. 

CONGRATULATIONS to all of the Classes that made Reading Renaissance Model and Master Classroom!!!  We want every class to be a Reading Renaissance Model and Master Class.

* Please submit your Tutoring Count to Mrs. Perez by 10:00A.M.

REMINDERS/ANNOUNCEMENTS (Continued):

* Begin your Mentoring with your assigned students.  Review the suggestions that are in your mentoring packet.

* TAKS COUNTDOWN:  As of Monday, March 8th, 2010, there are ONLY 15 Instructional Days for the 5th Grade Math and Reading TAKS Tests that will be administered on April 6th and 7th 2010.  Teachers –Please be very  intentional about what you are doing with your kids.

* We need for all classrooms to be ready this week for Texas Public School’s Week---Begin getting your rooms ready.

Monday:  3rd-5th Grade Tutoring from 3:30-4:30P.M., Texas Public School’s Week, CILT Committee Meeting at 4:30 in the Conference Room

Tuesday:  3rd-5th Grade Tutoring from 3:30-4:30P.M., Math Benchmark for 3rd and 4th Grade ONLY, SBSDM Committee Meeting at 4:30 in the Conference Room

Wednesday:  After School Enrichment from 3:30-4:30P.M., Grade Level Planning, 5th Grade Fine Arts Recruitment

Thursday:  Open House from 5:30-7:00P.M., First Grade Field Trip to Quinta Mazatlan (2 Classes)

Friday:  Last Day to input Grades for Progress Report for 5th Six-Weeks, First Grade Field Trip to Quinta Mazatlan (3 Classes)

3/27      Science Camp for 5th Grade Students, 6th six weeks Slasor Science Training for 4th and 5th Grade Teachers from 8:00-3:00P.M.
